AGILITY DOG: AN INNOVATIVE PHYTOCOMPLEX TO IMPROVE PERFORMANCE

In order to support the athletic skills and performance of a group of competitive dogs a set of phytocomplexes of plants and medicinal mushrooms, as well as nutraceutical principles, was given to a group of 10 dogs, border collie breed, of both sexes, for a period of 3 months. Before and during the nutritional treatment (0, 30, 60 and 90 days) a blood sample was taken, evaluating the blood count, biochemical and cytokines present. Compared to the initial values there is a decrease in the values of RBC, HCT and HGB in the first 30 days of the experimentation, a decrease that rapidly tends to go up until it overcomes the initial values by many points; this result represents a good result in order to guarantee the athletes a good athletic result. Therefore the final increase of the hematocrit and the values of the hemoglobin obtained with completely natural substances in support of the organism's organic physiological functions, is particularly interesting, and together with the increase in the quantity of the red blood cells, correlates with a possible improvement of the athletic performance. There are also limited alterations affecting the aminotransferase or transaminase enzymes AST and ALT, enzymes used for the metabolism of amino acids that in our case, indicates a good level of protection of the liver from overreaction damage and a good level of functioning of the organ, maintained despite physical exertion. Also, we found interesting variations during the experimentation, at the level of two interleukins. one pro-inflammatory (IL-6) and the other anti-inflammatory (IL-10). In conclusion, the administration of the study products, composed of completely natural active ingredients, has shown that it can improve the response to training and competition stress of the treated subjects.
